How to edit a GIF in the browser
- Drop a GIF into the box, or click to choose one. It starts playing in the preview.
- Press Play to watch it, or click the timeline to jump to a frame. Use the step buttons for single frames.
- Drag the blue handles to choose the first and last frames to keep.
- Optionally add a caption, change the speed, or turn on Reverse to play the animation backwards.
- Press Save new GIF to download the edited animation.
What you can do here
- Trim: keep only the frames between the first and last handle.
- Caption: add text to every frame, with a dark outline so it reads on any image.
- Speed: play at half speed or double speed. The saved GIF uses the new timing.
- Reverse: play the kept frames backwards.
- Still frames: save any frame as a PNG.
Good to know
Saving re-encodes the GIF, which can take longer for large animations. A GIF is limited to 256 colours per frame, so very detailed photos can look grainy. Choose Smaller file to reduce the size, or use Best colour for a sharper result.
More questions
Is my GIF uploaded?
No. The GIF is decoded and saved in your browser. Nothing is sent to ManyEdit.
Why is the saved GIF limited to 150 frames?
Encoding every frame in the browser takes time and memory. Trim a long animation to the part you need, and it will save quickly.
