How to edit a video in the browser

  1. Drop a video into the box, or click to choose one. It opens in the preview.
  2. Press Play or click the timeline to find the moment you want. Use − 1 frame and + 1 frame for precise steps.
  3. Set the start and end: drag the blue handles, or move to a moment and press Set start at playhead or Set end at playhead.
  4. Optionally type a caption, choose its position, size and colour. The preview shows it as it will be saved.
  5. Press Save clip from start to end to download the edited part, or Save this frame as PNG to keep a still image.

What you can do here

  • Trim: keep only the part between the start and end points.
  • Caption: add a line of text with a dark outline so it reads on any scene.
  • Still frames: save any moment as a PNG image.
  • Sound: keep or remove the original audio in the saved clip.

Good to know

Clips are recorded in real time, so the editor plays the part while it saves it. Keep clips short for the quickest results. In most browsers the saved clip is WebM.

More questions

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is read and edited in your browser, and the saved file goes to your device. Nothing is sent to ManyEdit.

Why does the preview look different from the saved clip?

The preview shows the caption as it will look, but small differences in font and spacing can happen between browsers. Play the saved clip to check it before you share it.

Can I edit a very long video?

You can, but large files use a lot of memory and take longer to save. Trim the video first if you can.
